Broken Promises

This article points out that in Maryland, gambling proponents promised that if voters approved allowing casinos in Maryland, that it would be a big win for education in that state. However, the reality has been very different. Money in that state’s education trust fund has replaced – not added to – general funds that had perviously been spent on education.

To Floridians, that sound familiar…that is what happened after passage of the Florida Lottery.

The gambling industry seems to use the same playbook everywhere.
